Artist Statement
Whenever I see a work of art I am very conscious of its beauty. It is important to me. My paintings are about aesthetics first- form over function. I think that a work of art should be something for people to look at, and that intellectual or theoretical qualities are secondary. I think a painting should look good when you put it on the wall.
I focus on traditional easel subjects such as still life, landscape, and portraits. Primarily I paint commonplace or familiar things and try to elevate them in my work until they became extraordinary. I think that everybody has their own experience of the world and I explore my experience of the world through my paintings.
I also do illustrations that tell a story.
