June Eucalyptus
A eucalyptus grove up the street from my house in San Diego. I often go to this restful spot to draw and paint.
Vintage Apartments in Hillcrest
Peach
Trying to channel Chardin, the French still life master, again. When you look at one of his fruit still life paintings, you feel like you could reach in and feel the fuzzy skin of the peach.
Hillcrest DMV in the Fog
I love this sweet old building- from the 60s?
Too bad they’re going to tear it down. Although I’d rather see urban density and leave the countryside alone, even if it means losing vintage buildings.
It’s a peaceful place to paint until about 8 when people start their commutes.
Yesterday’s painting was the same spot, just looking in a different direction. I’ve got one more from this morning, but it’s not done yet.

A sweet old church on Normal Street in Hillcrest, San Diego, California. Started plein air, and finished in the studio.

Sunset
A glorious California sunset over the Pacific. We watched the sun go down from a scenic overlook at Camp Pendleton, north of San Diego.
Oil on linen.
Tidepools
On the rocks at Point Loma, in San Diego, California, looking at the ocean. Original landscape painting, based on a plein air pastel painting.

A Gray Day at the Beach

Off Convoy St
An industrial building I like near our favorite Korean restaurant on Convoy (Grandma’s Tofu). This is usually the closest parking spot we can get. Original San Diego, California urban landscape; oil on canvas board.
PB
SOLD.
I think this building is a liquor store. Original streetscape painting of Pacific Beach in San Diego, California. My first painting on oil primed linen- and I have to say, I love painting on this surface!
Avocado Mountains
Original landscape painting of avocado groves studded with giant boulders in the high hills near Temecula, California.
