{"id":1219,"date":"2009-08-08T18:16:21","date_gmt":"2009-08-09T01:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/themovingcastle.com\/?p=1219"},"modified":"2009-08-08T18:16:21","modified_gmt":"2009-08-09T01:16:21","slug":"day-3-charleston-to-atlanta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.themovingcastle.com\/?p=1219","title":{"rendered":"Day 3: Charleston to Atlanta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a breakfast of Pop Tarts, we abandoned Erin to her home office<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3798761350\/\" title=\"Erin &amp; Pickles at Work by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2439\/3798761350_b14450a461.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Erin &amp; Pickles at Work\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and set sail for Savannah, Ga, so that I could view the architecture.  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3798770898\/\" title=\"Thinkin' by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2662\/3798770898_9f51ca7784.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Thinkin'\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We quickly determined that we were no match for the sauna-like environment- although it brought to mind the suffocating heat and humidity of my childhood- and got back in the car to view gorgeous examples of Georgian:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3798783544\/\" title=\"Savannah by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3431\/3798783544_65560eefcb.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Savannah\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and Victorian Italianate architecture.  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3798771202\/\" title=\"Savannah Italianate by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2466\/3798771202_b270b0e1c7.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Savannah Italianate\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also observed this local running, sensibly shirtless:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3797965717\/\" title=\"Savannah- Runner by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2421\/3797965717_fbe3985e9b.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Savannah- Runner\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By nightfall, we had reached exurban Atlanta, where we stopped to smell the roses<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3798828834\/\" title=\"Flowers by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3468\/3798828834_13456c5304.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Flowers\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and enjoy some Karaoke<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3798002861\/\" title=\"Breakin' it Down by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3512\/3798002861_f71c0f9239.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Breakin' it Down\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>while visiting Joe,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3798815984\/\" title=\"Joe w\/ Pickles by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2539\/3798815984_f0f71582d6.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Joe w\/ Pickles\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>who probably should not be trying to lose 10 lbs in 3 days.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/kevinmaddoginman\/3798834498\/\" title=\"Pickles w\/ Scary Diet by Kevin Mad Dog Inman, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2577\/3798834498_6a185597ff.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" alt=\"Pickles w\/ Scary Diet\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The following day would bring more Pop Tarts, a visit to Mike&#8217;s Granny in the Florida Panhandle, and conclude in a New Orleans slum.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a breakfast of Pop Tarts, we abandoned Erin to her home office and set sail for Savannah, Ga, so that I could view the architecture.
