{"id":1236,"date":"2009-08-19T22:50:17","date_gmt":"2009-08-20T05:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/themovingcastle.com\/?p=1236"},"modified":"2009-08-19T22:51:57","modified_gmt":"2009-08-20T05:51:57","slug":"paintin-sailboats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.themovingcastle.com\/?p=1236","title":{"rendered":"Paintin&#8217; Sailboats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/farleysfollies\/3819860094\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2466\/3819860094_afccfda5a1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m particularly attracted to the sailboats on the bay- a subject that attracts ridicule for some reason.\u00c2\u00a0 Haters. \u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nIt also attracts lots of weirdos, since the place to paint boats is by the bay, which is full of colorful residents and piles of tourists.<\/p>\n<p>Today, for example, I looked up from my painting &#8211; which actually had no sailboats in it since sadly I saw none today- and discovered children posing for a photo with me in it, just like I was an interesting rock or architectural marvel.\u00c2\u00a0 Then a gentle lunatic\/ druggie with a gigantic dog babbled at me while I tried to get the paint off my hands in the soapless public restroom. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday an energetic woman with a long gray ponytail tried to recycle my jars of solvent, then informed me that everyone should learn to sew.\u00c2\u00a0 And the day before that I learned all about a woman who came here from New Jersey to pursue a lesbian relationship, and who wanted to know where the good Mexican restaurants were. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And so on. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Painting outside is fun, basically.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m particularly attracted to the sailboats on the bay- a subject that attracts ridicule for some reason.\u00c2\u00a0 Haters. \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 It also attracts lots of weirdos, since the place to paint boats is by the bay, which is full of colorful residents and piles of tourists.
