Mockbeggar Hall: Oil Painting

Mockbeggar Hall

I just finished Gregory Maguire’s Out of Oz, which was magnificent.

I did a couple of drawings of Mockbeggar Hall, Glinda’s pink stucco country mansion. I started imagining a low pink German Rococo building, and painted this version as a kind of tall French Second Empire city mansion out in the country flanked by symmetrical attached barns. Then I changed my mind again about how it looked. Maybe I’ll do a Palladian version.

Clouds in the Sky, San Diego- Original Oil Painting

California Landscapes
Urban landscape painting of the rooftops of the North Park neighborhood.

Looking out over the tree tops of North Park from an alley high on a hill in San Diego, California. Puffy little clouds out in the distance over the desert.

I debated another sitting to develop the sky more, but decided against it.

Cat Painting Tuesday

Well, I was out of town until last night for a funeral. So I didn’t have time to do a cat painting this week.

I did, however, find time to go to the Riverwind casino, part of the Chickasaw Nation in Oklahoma.

And while there I saw these Cool Catz:

When I got home I was greeted by this cat pedaling her paws around the floor:
