Seascape, Point Loma from Coronado
I created this original seascape painting in the studio from a plein air pastel sketch that I drew on the beach at Coronado. Sunset light had painted the sky a soft yellow and Point Loma went purple in silhouette against it. This is the end of the beach right before you get to the military base. The headland in the background is Point Loma. The fog hadn’t started to really come in, but there was a light mist forming.
12 x 16 inches, oil on canvas on panel.
California Wildflowers
I’ve had Japanese art on my mind and this painting is one from that series. They are based on the Muromachi ink paintings from the 1300s, although they are painted from life in oil.

Sailboat in San Diego Bay- Oil Painting
A brilliant sunny day down on San Diego Bay, looking across the water to Coronado and beyond that, a blue mountain rising off in the distance in Mexico. The view is southwest from Shelter Island boat launch which, on this particular day, was full of a family of friendly sea lions.
8 x 10 inches, oil on canvas laid over board.
