This original urban landscape painting is the view from my studio, facing north towards University Ave in Hillcrest, San Diego, California. A pink summer sunset.
I created this original seascape painting in the studio from a plein air pastel sketch that I drew on the beach at Coronado. Sunset light had painted the sky a soft yellow and Point Loma went purple in silhouette against it. This is the end of the beach right before you get to the military base. The headland in the background is Point Loma. The fog hadn’t started to really come in, but there was a light mist forming.
12 x 16 inches, oil on canvas on panel.
I began this landscape painting as a plein air sketch in Balboa Park, San Diego, California.
Sunrise urban landscape in Hillcrest, San Diego, California.
A rare clear dawn in my neighborhood. We usually have fog, or at least that’s my impression since let’s face it, I’m not usually up this early.
I began this landscape painting en plein air in Mission Trails Park in San Diego, California, and finished it in the studio.
Original landscape painting of the mountains north of San Diego, California.
A bright, hot morning as we drove north through the mountains outside Escondido, California. The summer sky was thick looking with haze. We pulled over for me to do the pastel sketch I based this painting on.
Original landscape painting based on a plein air drawing I did while we were visiting the Temecula Valley, California vineyards just north of San Diego.
In addition to vineyards they grow a lot of citrus. It is just beautiful. We like to go up there for the day with a picnic.
