Archways- for sale
Another one from last year. A plein air painting from the Cabrillo bridge, looking at the Museum of Man.
I normally work on smoother surfaces, but this very coarse canvas was in the back of the car so I gave it a shot. Painting architecture on such a small scale on a highly textured surface isn’t easy, maybe not advisable unless you want it to get very abstract.

This one is from last year. It’s the patio surrounded by the several buildings of the Museum of Man.
While I was painting it in Balboa Park, my sister’s college friend from the East Coast went jogging by. I hadn’t known she lived here. I love coincidences like these.

Painted on the beach in PB. Today we dropped off a painting at the gallery in Santa Barbara, also had lunch and visited an orchid nursery. Driving back I longed to stop and paint the mountains in Ventura. They look like a painting already. Next time. for sale

Painted on location in Coronado. Another Santa Ana event with warm temps and high winds. for sale

An old house in an alley in OB. for sale
Maybe from the 1930s based on the pitch of the roof… my house is the exact same color (a color, I have been informed, is called Toasted Almond). Though I was looking at Google Street View and my house used to be 2 shades of purple.

One more from Balboa Park. for sale
One more day of heat + fires in the suburbs. The weatherpeople on TV say the weather’s cooling with a shift to a wind off the ocean, which should help the firefighters.

Painted on the bluffs at Sunset Cliffs. for sale
Our thoughts are with the families affected by the wildfires currently raging in San Diego County.

Painted on location in Florida canyon in Balboa Park, San Diego. I have this special shirt which has titanium woven in or something, and it is SPF 50. I wear it most of the time while painting. This particular day, I left it in the car by accident, so every moment of this painting I was fretting about melanoma.

The garage had experienced many generations of graffiti. for sale

When I was a teenager we lived in Japan. This is behind the Japanese supermarket where I go to satisfy my unbearable nostalgic cravings for Pocari Sweat.
