Sloping cake- for sale
This older painting of a slice of cake is leaning because I cut off part of the cake and ate it.
One night last winter, the Chargers won a game or something, and the city lit up the library dome in the team colors. This will never happen again. The Chargers never win. for sale
This spot is a few blocks from my house in the Sherman Heights historic district. I went down to try to capture it.
There’s a line in Camus that says: “..all Algiers at his feet, around them like a dark, glittering cape of jewels and shells.”
The combination of the jacaranda tree and the recycling bin was too much for me to resist. for sale
Started this one on location one sunny morning in the park. In the shade, where I wasn’t frying alive inside my own flesh. for sale
I was, to say the least, overjoyed this apartment building dealt with their termite problem so colorfully. for sale
I love the name of the neighborhood too: Golden Hill. Who wouldn’t want to live on a hill made gold in the afternoon sun?
The hills splashed in sun and peaks wreathed in cloud above Santa Barbara.

I like to go to different laundromats so I have something new to paint each time I wash clothes.

Termite Tent at Night – buy now
This older painting is still one of my favorites. What I love about it is the way the building glows inside the termite tent- they left on the floodlights and in some of the apartments. (I thought you were supposed to cut off the power before tenting, but I’m no expert). And it always takes me back to that cool, wet-smelling night with a marine layer overhead.
Here’s a link to the rest of this series of termite tent paintings. It’s a subject that always draws me back.
Gas Station painting – for sale
Tore up from the floor up, this gracefully decayed 60s Modern gas station is now a construction site – luxury condos and an organic market. Pretty sure the new building will be hideous, but maybe they’ll surprise us.
Baroque Columns – for sale
Painted on location last year in Balboa Park.
Gazebo in Spring- for sale
Painted on location last year in Balboa Park.
San Elijo Lagoon- For Sale
A painting from last year- painted on location in the marshes. A beautiful, quiet place.
Archways- for sale
Another one from last year. A plein air painting from the Cabrillo bridge, looking at the Museum of Man.
I normally work on smoother surfaces, but this very coarse canvas was in the back of the car so I gave it a shot. Painting architecture on such a small scale on a highly textured surface isn’t easy, maybe not advisable unless you want it to get very abstract.
