A pair of buddies in North Park. I don’t know when I painted this. I found it in the trunk of the car.
It was superhot last week so I headed to this spot with a nice big shade tree and catching what breeze there was on the heights above North Park.
Painted yesterday in North Park.
For a painter of topography even minor changes in locale can be significant. This painting is from mid 2013, and near my old house. A transitional time for me, when I moved from Hillcrest to Sherman Heights. Night and day different neighborhoods though only a couple of miles away. This piece reminds me what it felt like to live in the old neighborhood, what those artistic motivations were, not so long ago.
I painted this last year and I am fond of this painting. Rigoberto’s taco shop in North Park, San Diego. I don’t normally paint cars for various reasons aesthetic and philosophical, but in this case it seemed weird to paint a Drive Thru without including a car.
From last year.
