This spot is a few blocks from my place in Sherman Heights, a rapidly changing neighborhood overlooking the rapidly changing San Diego skyline.

Seen from a few floors up in downtown San Diego.
Rialto at Night
Venice at night, just as a light autumn rain began to fall. Several monuments were under construction including the Rialto bridge, whose scaffolding was wrapped in a Guess ad.

The Prado seen from the Cabrillo Bridge. This piece is on display at the historic Marston House in San Diego as part of Art of the Park, an exhibition of paintings of Balboa Park dating from the 1915 Panama-California Exposition to today.

Santa Barbara Nocturne
The park above Leadbetter Beach in beautiful Santa Barbara, just before dawn. I’d gone to paint the beach and spent some time working here while the tide went out a little. What that entails is a headlamp, a clip on light on my painting surface, a Clif Bar and one of those cans of Starbucks espresso. The preliminary studies for this painting are from last winter.
Often we go on family vacations to Santa Barbara, so I try to fit in painting around the edges. This is one of those paintings. for sale
