This donut was purchased at “donut happy hour” for something like 37 cents.
Here we are on Mardi Gras- no plans to do anything, but in Venice, Carnavale is in full swing. Here’s one from my trip there I hadn’t posted yet.
Rooftops in Barcelona. This is the view from my apartment balcony in El Born. I just found this picture- it’s about 2 years old- in one of my many piles in the studio. She hung out the clothes in her bikini. I loved that.
Painted on the cliffs.
Painted in OB a few weeks back on a windy gray day.
Here’s a picture of its brother, painted in the same spot after the day had brightened a little:
By a dumpster up the street.
I painted this a few weeks ago, but it was a study for a wedding gift and I didn’t want to spoil the surprise. 8 x 13 inches, oil on linen.
Woke up Christmas Eve morning to find Mike had waited in line an hour and a half at Donut Bar to bring me Christmas donuts to paint. Their donuts are great, their efficiency and the ergonomic catastrophe of their store less so. A really special treat.
Happy Holidays!
Lots of things happen on the cliffs. On the week I painted this there were two cliff rescues, with fire trucks and big winches. There was someone cliff diving and tourists taking pictures of it. There was a delivery of a classic corvette to a beachfront mansion. A street was closed off for a gas leak you could smell for blocks. And painting happened.
Painted on the beach in Coronado.
Two sentinels.
Venice at night, just as a light autumn rain began to fall. Several monuments were under construction including the Rialto bridge, whose scaffolding was wrapped in a Guess ad.
