Another Plein Air at the Art Walk, Little Italy
Today’s plein air painting from the Mission Federal ArtWalk in Little Italy, San Diego. There was an old lime green cottage next door to a dusky twilight Craftsman (maybe Victorian, I’m not sure)- right across from my booth. A perfect place to paint.
Little Italy Plein Air San Diego
This salon in a great old Craftsman is across from my booth at Mission Federal Art Walk. I’m in 784 on Fir St, between India and Columbia Streets, and I’ll be there until 6 PM Sunday, doing another plein air painting. It should be another beautiful day in San Diego!
Crystal Cove Laguna Beach
This day in Laguna Beach had incredible light and atmosphere- clear glassy water and a dramatic dark blue cloudy sky.
Leadbetter Beach, Santa Barbara California
Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara. I think it’s also spelled Ledbetter Beach. Beautiful place.
Giraffe on an Ottoman
A herd of these small giraffes lives in the canyon behind the house. They are somewhat skittish, but we’ve befriended this one.
Santa Barbara Sunset Palms
Sunset in Santa Barbara.
Sunset at the Crystal Pier, San Diego
Sunset at the Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach, San Diego. There’s a hotel with cottages on the pier- you can sleep right over the surf.
Eucalyptus Trees, San Diego Landscape Painting
This was kind of a magical sunset, because first the trees went blue in the gathering night, with everything backlit by the setting sun at the top of the hill.
Virginia Farm in Autumn
I used to bike along this path all the time, past cows and barns and through the woods, in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Santa Barbara Landscape
In the Santa Ynez Valley, in the mountains above Santa Barbara. Beautiful place, with rolling farmland and otherworldly mountains rising above.
Santa Barbara Beach
This is where we’re headed today! Looking forward to painting on the beach.
Virginia Autumn Woods
Here’s another painting of the bike path I used to ride to and from work, which wound through farms and forests and along an old railroad cutting through rock. It’s a nice ride if you’re in the Blacksburg area.
I started this painting either during or shortly after getting back from our trip to Blacksburg last autumn.
San Diego Skyline from Mission Hills
Virginia Farm Mud Puddle
I used to bike to work through the Virginia Tech farms in Blacksburg. It’s a hilly, green town- and this spot along my bike commute always grew a giant mud puddle after rain. Made quite the mess to bike through it, which I enjoyed!
