Here’s the desert from where I wound up when I got lost. No red rocks here, but the blue mountains were very pretty. I was on the exact opposite side of the city from where I wanted to be- but still on the same street!

This is as far as I got with the painting plein air before the sun got too fierce, around 9:30 AM. I’d already had to move the easel once (the date palm went behind the building when I did) to get under a tree… one of my first painting teachers told us, paint in the shade, and she’s absolutely right.
The house behind this fence, beautifully bursting with bougainvillea, is for sale. It’s an old Craftsman with intact original windows- and no parking! For me, lack of parking is not a deal breaker (I travel by hot air balloon).
